Yes, it’s true. Live Cabo Radio’s Weather Station is in a relationship with NOAA ❤️! After more than a decade of doing weather reports on various interweb sites, social media etc., all of my hard work and justifying the accuracy of my weather station has been validated by the National Weather Service, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

So now, from this point forward, every blog post (It will probably be a little further down in the blog as far as placement) and also the homepage for
https://livecaboradio.blog will have the most up to the minute true weather data as the closest weather station to downtown Cabo San Lucas and the Marina.
I’m very honored that my weather station has been approved, and that I can now officially contribute to the accuracy in our local weather at least for real time data.
Many people ask what weather station I use and do not mind sharing. It is an Ambient Weather WS-1001-WIFI-CONSOLE Console but I’m deciding on an upgrade and am torn between the Ambient Weather Station WS-5000 and the Davis Cabled Vantage Pro2. The one I am currently using is very affordable but has been discontinued. The link below that says Personal Weather Station #ad will show you just how many models are available.
Personal Weather StationPlus, thankfully I will not be upgrading this year so I have a bit more time to decide. The links above are what I am looking at, but in the end, the key deciding factor will be the highest miles per hour the PWS records, and the accuracy of rainfall. I’m only looking at the spendy ones because I want to be able to record (hopefully never needed) up to 200mph and I want a larger rain cup.
If YOU have a personal weather station, you can help Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo to have more accurate forecasts in the future. Please see this link for more information , as there are currently only 3 including my own currently sending date in San Lucas.

Our region is desert meets the sea and in our case, kinda sorta “two” seas with a mountainous region next to us in Cabo San Lucas.
Even if we didn’t have so many things to make forecasting and accurate realtime weather reports on our apps and preferred weather sites frustrating, we in the Los Cabos region aren’t alone.
Example, https://www.theatlantic.com/technology/archive/2023/04/weather-apps-forecast-predictions-information-overload/673648/ … It was a lengthy article but worth the read. We also have to keep a few things in mind. One, very few weather stations are accepted and reporting to the National Weather Service in our region and two, depending on the app you use, it may default to say … the nearest airport which from me, is approx 6 miles and yes, the weather conditions are much different. 81 vs 87f kinda of difference. They might be getting rain, I may not.

I am just very grateful to know that I am officially contributing with a weather station that has been approved by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
At the end of the day, we wish you a fantastic vacation to our paradise and pray your beer is icy cold.
xoxo
Just Jenn
