🌴 Hurricane Season Novela 2026: We’ve Got a Name! Meet Tropical Storm Elida 🎬

🎭 Area #1 has earned a starring role and is now Tropical Storm Elida.

Over the past 24 hours, the National Hurricane Center upgraded the system from an area of interest to Tropical Depression Five-E, and now to Tropical Storm Elida as the circulation became better organized and winds increased to 35 mph (30 kt).

So… how’s our newest cast member doing?

🌊 Elida is still moving generally westward over the open Pacific while gradually organizing. Satellite imagery overnight showed a growing central dense overcast with very cold cloud tops, a sign that thunderstorms are becoming more organized around the center.

Forecast confidence remains fairly high that Elida will continue strengthening during the next few days.

🌡️ Why?

Because it’s moving through an environment that meteorologists love:
• Very warm ocean water
• Weak vertical wind shear
• Plenty of tropical moisture

The National Hurricane Center continues to forecast Elida becoming a hurricane by Thursday night, with peak intensity expected on Friday.

They also note that rapid intensification cannot be ruled out, although confidence in exactly how quickly that might occur remains low.

🌴 So… what about Los Cabos?

At this time, the official forecast continues to keep Elida well offshore as it gradually turns northwest later this week.

Based on the current forecast, there is no indication of a direct impact to Los Cabos from Elida.

As always, that doesn’t mean we stop paying attention. Forecasts evolve, especially over several days, and we’ll continue following each advisory as it comes in.

🎬 Our newest cast member has officially arrived.

Now we’ll see whether Elida quietly exits stage left… or decides she wants a bigger role before the curtain falls.
