NOTE: The forcast from the NHC can be found here: https://livecaboradio.blog/2020/05/21/2020-hurricane-season-outlook/
While the information is all over the place from one agency to another, I’m not going to use my crystal ball today other than as a featured image. It is very early in the season to truly put on a finger on what we will see this year in terms of tropical weather forecasting.
It’s being said that we might see more of an increase in activity in 2020 than we saw in 2019. We, as in the really big East Pacific Ocean, not we as in Los Cabos.
According to the Climate Prediction Center “There is a ~65% chance of ENSO-neutral during Northern Hemisphere summer 2020, with chances decreasing through the autumn (to 45-50%)” cpc.ncep.noaa.gov
We’ve been in El Nino since last fall, as you can see below.
My subscribers might remember how I feel (personally from some past research) on Neutral cycles and how it directly affects us in Los Cabos. Anyways … leaving the guesses to the pro’s because they get paid to get it wrong.
AccuWeather is thinking 13-16 named storms, of which 5-8 to become hurricanes, and I haven’t seen where they said how many could become major, but they did offer their opinion that somewhere along the Mexican coastline 3 storms could sideswipe if not directly hit.
I’m not finding a forecast from the NHC yet. I will do another bloggy post when they do.
And then we have this one …
So personal thoughts are being offered in this update on my feelings other than the reference to past thoughts I’ve shared. We’ve all got enough on our minds right now.
See the list of this year’s potential storms below.
Stay safe and healthy everyone xoxo
