A very popular question that comes up regularly every month of the year for those planning a vacation to Cabo San Lucas is what the weather is like. Let’s go take a look at May. (I know I should have started with January but May is when you last heard from me).

This past May in 2024, we had a high of 98.6f and a low of 62.6f averaging 80f. The winds generally came from the SW and according to the Beaufort Wind Speed Scale, we experienced continuous light breezes from 4.7-6.6 mph. We also experienced some higher winds Near Gale to Strong Gale with gusts ranging from 38.7-52.6 mph.

May in 2023: We had a high of 95.9f and a low of 60.6f averaging 76f. The winds generally came from the W and according to the Beaufort Wind Speed Scale, we experienced continuous gentle breezes from 7.6-10.5 mph. We also experienced some higher winds Near Gale to Strong Gale with gusts ranging from 38.7-49.9 mph.

May in 2022: We had a high of 94.1f and a low of 61.0f averaging 75.9f. The winds generally came from the WSW and according to the Beaufort Wind Speed Scale, we experienced continuous light to gentle breezes from 7.3-9.9 mph. We also experienced some higher winds Near Gale to Strong Gale with gusts ranging from 38.5-55.0 mph.

May in 2021: Unfortunately I believe the above chart to be inaccurate as there was a time I did not realize my personal weather station was offline (it happens with poweroutages 🤷♀️). So going with what is recorded, we had a high of 94.1f and a low of 63.7f averaging 80.1f. The winds generally came from the WSW and according to the Beaufort Wind Speed Scale, we experienced continuous light breezes from 5.1-7.0 mph. We also experienced some higher winds Near Gale gusts ranging from 34-45 mph.

May in 2020: This is not a random copy/paste from above … Unfortunately I believe the above chart to be inaccurate as there was a time I did not realize my personal weather station was offline (it happens with poweroutages 🤷♀️)… again. So going with what is recorded, we had a high of 93.9f and a low of 62.8f averaging 77.7f. The winds generally came from the W and according to the Beaufort Wind Speed Scale, we experienced continuous light to gentle breezes from 6.4-8.7 mph. We also experienced some higher winds Near Gale to Strong Gales gusts ranging from 36.5-52.6 mph.
By just going back a few years, I think we can say that the weather in Cabo San Lucas during the month of May, is fantastic! It can get a little on the warm side but staying hydrated on the hotter days makes a huge difference. If you plan on doing water activities especially in the evenings, do consider bringing a light jacket or sweater as it is also cooler out at sea.
