A chubasco is a violent squall with thunder and lightning, encountered during the rainy season along the Pacific coast of Mexico, Central America, and South America. People in San Jose del Cabo are already reporting thunder and others are posting pictures of heavy rain in San Jose del Cabo.

Per MetMex, “the coast of Los Cabos (Cabo Pulmo, Los Frailes, Punta Colorada, La Ribera, Buenavista, Los Barriles). If this continues, we should have widespread rain in Los Cabos and south of the municipality of La Paz in 2 to 5 hours.”

Our region as a whole, might experience from 0.20-1 inches of rain today according to Conaqua. Wunderground is reporting for Cabo San Lucas 0.25 inches of rain, Accuweather 0.27 inches, but the individual computer models for Cabo San Lucas in B.C.S. only report that we may see about 0.05 inches. I guess we will find out soon!

Also, you should take extreme caution along the beaches. We are already seeing in some areas up to 5-6 feet waves however, we are anticipating much larger waves later this afternoon compliments of Fabio, who otherwise poses no threat to land (though we are currently getting a few of his stray clouds).

I know I have not been reporting on the weather, due to the fact none of the storms that have developed have posed a threat to land.

We might experience gusts from 17-24 mph in some areas so do put down your umbrellas and bring in your patio pillows especially if you live in elevated areas as you might lose them and have to form a search party later.
