Heavy rain is falling across parts of Los Cabos, and flooding is already being reported on streets and roadways.Photos coming in show significant water accumulation in Cabo San Lucas, with runoff moving through streets and low-lying areas.
The latest ZOFEMAT beach report for today, Wednesday, September 2, has:
⚫ Cabo San Lucas: BLACK FLAGS — BEACHES CLOSED
🟡 Zona Norte: YELLOW FLAGS — DANGEROUS CONDITIONS; SWIMMING PERMITTED WITH CAUTION
⚫ San José del Cabo: BLACK FLAGS — BEACHES CLOSED
And this is important:
🚫 Do NOT attempt to cross streams, arroyos or areas where water is flowing across the road.
The Ayuntamiento de Los Cabos is specifically warning that streams and arroyos can rise rapidly in both depth and current strength during rainfall, even when they initially appear passable.
A few minutes of waiting is far better than discovering that the water is stronger or deeper than it appears.
🌊 Conditions can change very quickly during a Cabo rain event.
If you’re out on the roads, slow down, avoid flooded areas and never drive through moving water.
